HERMIT

WORD: HERMIT

MEANING:
1. a person who has withdrawn to a solitary place for a life of religious seclusion.
2. any person living in seclusion; recluse.
3. an animal of solitary habits.
4. a spiced molasses cookie often containing raisins or nuts.

EXAMPLE/USAGE:
1. How delicious! The prospect tempts even me, a hermit! But never mind, dear, about this wedding.
2. He had been Duke of Savoy, and after a very glorious reign, took on him the habit of a hermit , and retired into this solitary spot.
