WORD: PERSECUTED

MEANING:
1. To oppress or harass with ill-treatment, especially because of race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, or beliefs.
2. To annoy persistently; bother: persecuted the babysitter with foolish questions.
3. wronged, mistreated, maltreated


EXAMPLE/USAGE:
1. Jews, Zoroastrians, who came to India after being persecuted abroad, got "respect and bonhomie" from then Hindu rulers.
2. He accused the media of persecuting him and his family.
