MEANING:
1.
a. A journey undertaken by a group of people with a definite objective: an expedition against the enemy stronghold; a scientific expedition to the South Pole.
b. The group undertaking such a journey.

EXAMPLE/USAGE:
1. RARE HONOUR: The United States has named a mountain in Antarctica as Mt Sinha in honour of an eminent Indian-American scientist whose pioneering biological research expedition has provided critical data about animal populations
